Teething problems


So after this initial launch of the pre-Alpha there were a few fixes and bugs that needed dealing with. There was also some quality of life things that were easy to add and would add to the fun.

Firstly removing the Q to quit function. Apparently this was too easy to press accidentally and didn't even work properly for the web build anyway, so it has been removed.

Speaking of Q, the first power up gust has been moved to the Q Key, this is easier to press than the 1 Key. I may rework the power up system to only have one Q for all power ups and have a way to swap between them, for now the only two power ups will be  on the Q and E keys.

Speaking of E (wow i'm good at leading into the next topic) it is now more obvious to press E to continue dialogue. Apparently just having a red square is not very intuitive, who knew right?

The biggest change for this version is the puzzle cube boss, it is now much more fun and challenging. The puzzle cube will now bounce off the walls and make Walls fall from the sky every time it hits the wall and after so many will try to stomp the player with a cool, simple, colour-changing telegraph. The final stage is now tricky which is always the aim with bosses in the game, but still doable.

I'm happy with these changes, the puzzle cube boss still will need some tweaking, especially with the spawning of the walls and leaf piles but is in a much better place. A dev only cheat has also been fixed as to not totally break the game, but most people won't even know this exists.

Next update will probably look at changing the players movement to prevent the stuttering when pushing up against objects as well as completing the third world. I might try to update this every week though that is subject to change. For now, i'm off the London for the weekend so get a little break, see you soon!
