Enter the Mansion


So here it is, the first playable version of the remake of my first ever game. I originally created this game in Game Maker 7 long before I went to University to learn game programming. The premise of this game is simple, guide a ghost named Colin to the exit of the single screen stages. With such a simple premise comes surprisingly varied and difficult game play. This project is really a showcase of my game design with each level either introducing a new gimmick or mixing previous gimmicks to create an experience that keeps you on your toes.

This version is the pre(pre)alpha build, everything is technically playable however bugs may be many. Movement needs to be refined, an actual story needs to be worked on, sprites need updating and animating, sounds and music needs to be added, to name just a few things that need to be worked on. However, the 24 levels you get are fully playable and engaging and if you experience any kind of frustration at dying then my mission had been accomplished.

There are a few things I know about that seem to only happen with the web gl version of the build which will certainly be worked on and fixed, current issues are:

The puzzle cube boss is very jittery. The shield does not disappear after being hit the correct number of times.

These are all exclusive to this version of the game, which is interesting to say the least, how i fix these specific issues when they do not appear in the exe build is beyond me, but I'll figure it out.

Anyway, this is just a little update for anyone interested, as I update this project I will add new devlogs as a way to show progress, now go enter the mansion!
