Wolfpack Christmas Game 2
A downloadable game
The 'sequel' to my original Wolfpack Christmas Game. Though it's more like a remake, as when I wanted to make some changes to the original I found that somehow, I had lost the original Unity project. So, as I was going to make changes anyway, I decided to just remake the game from scratch.
The aim of the game is the same as the original, move around the board, visiting 'Locations' to collect an item and return home to win. Along the way there are many spaces that you will interact with. These are:
- Red - Lose 2 coins
- Yellow - Gain 2 coins
- Blue - Wolf History Question
- Purple - Action card
- Green - Mini-game
- Pink - Shortcut
- White - Location
- Light Blue - Home
On their turn, players roll the dice and move that amount of spaces and then an event happens depending on the space they land on. When they reach a white 'Location' space they must answer a 'Location Question'. Answering this correctly will give that player the corresponding item from the location. Once a player has all items, they return to home to win the game.
Wolf History Question
When landing on a blue space, players will be presented with a Wolf History Question. These are questions based off the history of the Wolf family. Getting an answer correct will give that player another turn.
Action Card
When landing on a purple space, players will be able to pick up an action card. These have various effects, these are:
- Close shortcuts - Close all shortcuts until your next turn.
- Extra turn - Take an extra turn.
- Free pass - Gain a free pass ticket that allows taking one shortcut for free.
- Freeze - Freeze one player, making them miss their next turn.
- Price Rise - Double the price of shortcuts until your next turn.
- Steal - Steal three coins from another player.
- Tax - Choose a player to lose five coins.
The player will get the choice of three action cards, but can only choose one.
Mini-game
When landing on a green space, a mini-game will begin. A mini-game selector will appear onscreen to randomly pick a mini-game to play. The winner of the mini-game will earn three coins, the mini-games are:
- Wolftucky Derby - It's the world famous Wolftucky Derby! Choose a coloured racer and cheer them on to victory. All racers have the same chance of winning and move at random speeds and change speeds at random times. It's not luck though, it's all down to skill, let's race!
- Guess my number - Hi, I'm Rando Bot, I am a number generating robot. I will pick a number between 1 and 100. Can you guess which number I picked? The closest player to my guess is the winner, if two players are both as close as each other, the first to guess wins
- Pick a box - 27 boxes appear on the screen. Each box has a 50/50 chance of being red or green on the inside. Players take turns selecting a box, if it's green you're still in the game, if it's red you are out. Last player standing wins
- Plinko - A Ball is dropped from the top of a Plinko machine, there are pegs in between the top and the 8 drop zones at the bottom. Players select a drop zone in turn, if the ball lands in your selected zone you are the winner. The ball has a random bounciness each game making it even more unpredictable.
- Rock, Paper, Scissors - Take part in RBS Battle Royale. Choose your fighter and Rock, Paper, Scissors your way to the top. Winning or drawing your fight means you're still in the game, but if you lose, you're out! Last players standing wins. Let's get ready to rumble!
- Memory Match - 24 cards appear on screen all face down. They are randomly shuffled. There are 12 pairs. Players get 5 seconds to memorize as many pairs as they can. In turn, players choose two cards and if they are a pair they're still in the game, if not they are out. Last player standing wins.
Shortcuts
Around the board are several shortcuts, these allow players to skip a few spaces on the board. Shortcuts usually cost five coins to use, though it can be free if a player has a free pass. The cost of shortcuts can also rise to ten or even close altogether if certain actions cards are active.
Locations
When a player reaches a white space their movement ends and they must attempt to answer a 'Location Questions'. There are a few different type of questions a player can face at a location. If they get the answer correct, they can advanced on their next turn and they earn the item for that location. If they get the questions wrong, they are stuck at this location and must attempt to correctly answer a location question on their next turn. The type of location questions are:
- Picture Question - A question accompanied by a picture. The question will be based off the picture.
- Video Question - A question accompanied by a video. The question will be based off the video.
- Hidden Picture - A picture will be shown with some element hidden or covered. The player must guess what that is.
- What's Next? - A video question that plays a short clip of a video and then pauses, the player must guess what happens next.
Home
When a player reaches Home after visiting each location and getting each item, they will win the game!
I'm super proud of this project, for obvious reasons I can't share the download of this game as it contains a lot of personal information and pictures/videos. I learned a lot from the original version of this game, especially what not to do, and I took those lessons and made something really cool that my family will enjoy for many years to come.
